LOSANG GYATSO

Gyatso was born in Lhasa, Tibet, and grew up in India and Britain. He arrived in the United States in 1974 and studied art in San Francisco. Gyatso worked as an Art Director in New York for 15 years, producing work in both film and print that have won many industry awards. Throughout this period he continued to explore his work as a contemporary Tibetan artist.

His involvement with the Tibetan movement has allowed him to contribute to many projects including the design of several books on Tibet and creating logos for organizations such as Students for Free Tibet, Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy, International Campaign for Tibet, Year of the Tibetan Woman, World Artists for Tibet and the World Sacred Music Festival.

Gyatso currently lives in Colorado, devoting his time to painting and working to create awareness for Contemporary Tibetan Art. His art explores the fabric of Tibetan culture and identity, engaging with the intersection of the spiritual and the physical.
